Microsoft is showing that it is serious about improwing security in its many products. Bill Gates has published 31. March 2004 as part of his executive e-mails the "Microsoft Progress Report: Security". The question is though whether this will matter much – despite the earnest effort and the huge amount of money allocated – if the Windows platform is fundamentally problematic with respect to IT-security, and/or if the real problem is the monoculture within IT today due to the a widespread Microsoft monopoly.
