Between concerts at @hindsgavl_festival, I went for a quick 10K run — from Funen to Jutland and back across the old Little Belt Bridge. A beautiful route with history, sea breeze, and just enough elevation to make the music afterwards feel even more rewarding.

- Two unforgettable French-themed concerts at @hindsgavl_festival: First, the @breeze_windquintet quintet with @paloma.kouider.pianist performed Roussel, Debussy, Farrenc, Connesson & Poulenc. The next morning, Kouider returned with Annelien van Wauwe for Pierné, Widor, Saint-Saëns & Poulenc. A celebration of 100 years of French flair for winds and piano. (07/05/2025 09:44:27)
- This morning at @hindsgavl_festival @kristofferhyldig performed Olivier Messiaen’s Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus — a 2½ hour uninterrupted solo piano masterpiece. This deeply Catholic work, rich in mystical symbolism and sonic ecstasy, momentarily transported even a devout cultural Protestant into the heart of religious awe. A truly overwhelming experience. - Yesterday’s late-night concert at @hindsgavl_festival was a revelation. @deniskozhukhin all-Liszt solo program culminated in an absolutely overwhelming performance of the B minor Sonata — a journey of drama, depth, and spiritual intensity. Rarely has the piano sounded so infinite. (07/04/2025 06:59:18)
- An inspiring afternoon at @hindsgavl_festival Festival! We began with Mozart’s Horn Quintet in E♭ Major, K.407, featuring Sibylle Mahni (horn) with Antje Weithaas (violin), Sào Soulez Larivière & Nicholas Swensen (violas), and Andreas Brantelid (cello). Then Felix Mendelssohn’s youthful masterpiece, his String Octet in E♭ Major, Op. 20 (composed at just 16), soared under Weithaas’s leadership: a fiery Allegro moderato, lyrical Andante, playful Scherzo, and triumphant Presto finale. Simply unforgettable! A huge congratulations to all! (07/03/2025 15:56:03)
- @hindsgavl_festival Festival 2025 has begun! And what a magnificent opening. The first concert featured a stellar string quartet: @snokvit and @adamkviolin (violins), @nicholasalgot_swensen (viola), and @andreasbrantelid_official (cello). They brought Haydn’s radiant String Quartet in A major, Op. 20 No. 6 to life, and then moved us with Schubert’s dark and gripping Death and the Maiden quartet. A perfect start to this year’s musical journey. (07/02/2025 22:48:54)
- Last night at @hindsgavl_festival, I had the joy of hearing @martinhelmchen perform Brahms’ monumental Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34—together with @antjeweithaas and @stephenwaarts (violins), @sao.lariviere_violist (viola), and @marieelisabethhecker (cello). A storm of lyricism, depth, and virtuosity. Music that lingers. (07/02/2025 22:32:01)
- “No Space for Bezos!” cry the protesters—but not a word about Lady Gaga or Elton John performing at his wedding. Is it hypocrisy or just selective outrage? Jo Ellison’s piece is a reminder that when it comes to billionaire pageantry, everyone plays their part. #BezosWedding #CulturalContradictions https://www.ft.com/content/1ea7433a-f821-4a79-997c-2b1f69ffafe3 (06/30/2025 06:16:56)

- Yesterday 40 years ago: The only Denmark side ever to defeat the mighty and mysterious USSR, the fans present at the Copenhagen ground that afternoon in 1985, or just anyone who watched the game live on TV. https://theblizzard.co.uk/denmark-4-ussr-2/ (06/06/2025 15:45:16)
