Back from a couple of weeks of hibernating I am blogging from Securing Privacy in the Internet Age – a symposium on what legal regimes or market initiatives would best prevent the unauthorized disclosure of private information while also promoting business innovation.

Among the interesting presentations yesterday were the suggestion by A. Michael Froomkin that the use of national ID would actually enhance the privacy of US citizens as opposed to the common view that you can kiss your privacy goodbye with national ID cards, and a very competent analysis by Jennifer Chandler of Ottowa University Law School on tort liability assumed by software producers in the case of denial of service attacks.
